Time Flies

Time flies
when your having fun,
so the saying goes.

I must
be having a blast,
the days are flitting past, heaven knows.

It must
be grand to have such a time,
for it is flying fast

And before
I know it, all too soon
these days will be long past.

I can
barely take a breath, or give
my eye a bat

Too soon
I'll turn my head around and
wonder where it all is at.

Dinner Party

Did you wash the dishes yet?
I ask of you, dear pet.
When you are done with that set
Can you begin to set the dinette?
And then before you can forget
I need you to pipe out the rosettes.
This party will be a success I bet
Thanks to your hard work and sweat.

on this night
we remember the past
when we were shook
by the airplane's blast

we did not comprehend
nor do we still
just how much this hurts
and how our hearts can feel

it breaks the barrier
of individual strength
it takes us all joining
hands to overcome this breach

we look behind only to recollect
the horror, the pain, the feeling
to then look ahead and spur us on
to rise above the hate and work for healing
