13th birthday

the end of an era
is passing away
as my daughter
turns 13 today

I don't want to
let it slip away
but know that good
is all I can say

when I look back
I wish she'd stay
my little girl who
loved to sing and play

but I know that even now
I celebrate this first of May
by enjoying the young lady she is
and say Happy 13th Birthday
