13th birthday

the end of an era
is passing away
as my daughter
turns 13 today

I don't want to
let it slip away
but know that good
is all I can say

when I look back
I wish she'd stay
my little girl who
loved to sing and play

but I know that even now
I celebrate this first of May
by enjoying the young lady she is
and say Happy 13th Birthday

twelve

My daughter is twelve now
I just don't know how
it is already upon us
Where did it all go?

One thing I do know
Is that it is time to show
her just what she means to us
Before it's time for her to go.

Though she is still the same
girl with the same face and name
there is so much different now
And I wonder where did she go?

It is not long until I see
Her leaving without me
And I know that I'll be
proud when it's her time to go.
