without brick
or mortar

will help us
learn and cross
new borders

it can be a
time to ease
transition

and help us
gain perspective
on our position

learning without
boundaries is
not a new take

we will see
if we can
now make

this standard
curriculum
our own

and how it
fits into
our home

learning to tweak
where tweaking
is needed

is important and
by this school
it's heeded

so far so good
I will have
to say

though lots of
work is crammed
into one day

living in this era

"it was the best of times,
it was the worst of times"
seems to echo to today

"these are the times that
try men's souls" and cause
many of us to pray

when we see history repeat
itself before our very eyes
it can be so hard to stay

the course and do the right
when others don't seem to care
to hear what we say

it seems as if it's getting worse
and that something wicked
is coming this way

nothing matters (not even the rhyme)

You matter
doesn't matter

life is harder
each and every day

nothing solved
everything revolved

again and again
with no end

nothing works
all is wrong

even the rhymes
don't rhyme

and time after time
I see just how blind

we all are to each
other's views

will it ever end?
neither of us willing to bend

how can we go on
and how can we not?

fight
with all your might
to see the light
know you're right
fix your sight
forget the trite
grab and hold tight
then take flight
and reach new height

same routine

mowing grass
changing oil
taking out the trash
all while he was gone

is not what
I like to do
and yet
it needed to be done

now he's back
the yard uncut
and things go
back to the same routine

I am glad
and don't mind
one bit if things
are as they've always been

all mixed
to make an
enjoyable story
and specter appear

busy summer

boy it's been busy
more than I can say
and I am sure thinking
summer will stay this way

not that I'm complaining
I hate the kids to be bored
but it just seems at times
that it is more than I can afford

in energy, emotion and dollars
to do each and every single thing
that the kids have planned and want
to do, it seems every day will bring

a new idea, a new thought, a new plan
and I get swept up in the notion
that they need to take up every
opportunity their minds put in motion
