picking berries

have you ever picked your own berries
it's almost like being in the wild with magic fairies

it is so peaceful, so serene
and these are the prettiest berries you've ever seen

they are so pretty when fully ripe
that you can't help but want to take a bite

you are giddy from the sweet smell
as you hasten to fill your white pail

you can hardly wait for the treats you will make
you can start with jelly, pies, and a cake

these ripe little berries are my favorites by far
at least that is what I think when I am filling a jelly jar

When asked what I'd do
if I were truly in love
Would I move a world away
and to my past give a shove?

A dime for my thoughts

I don't know if I could answer
completely, not knowing the fate.

When young and love-struck
I know that I'd have said
Of course I would go with him,
Are you crazy in the head?

Would I really forget
All the folks left behind?
I don't think that would be likely
Since I would hope to find

That I'd be back when I could-
Of course it would be tough,
But I'd have my new life
With my husband. Though it would be rough

Through those first married years
It could really be good
To have to rely on each other
And not on the old neighborhood.

Homeschool
can be cool-
but I'm no fool,
I know the rule-
that it can be stressful
as a whirlpool
and kids can be full

I want them to be fed more than gruel
